Like the most we started simple and small. In the beginning there where some aquariums but soon the interest in salamanders and newts grew.
In the last 20 years, the matter grew up gradually. Especially, the contact with AG-Urodela of DGHT from 1989 was groundbreaking.

Originally situated in the middle of Vienna town Salamanderland now is in a small village named KALTENLEUTGEBEN southwest of the capital of Austria/Europe.

Salamanderland is not publicly accessible, however, we are pleased about visits. For the purpose of date agreement, we ask for longer-term contact-reception.

Most of the living-animal-collection is available also for scientific matters after agreement. Please tell us your conception.

Our collection of preparations was handed over to the Museum of Natural History, Herpetological Division in Vienna. You can look at and order there. This collection is still supplemented by us.
